Tofu

A big theme in my early existence is...., well, my mom. And a big theme in my mom's existence is healthy eating and cooking. Exploration and learning by doing are the predominant philosophies in our household so wielding a very sharp Ikea plastic knife, I often get to help out in the kitchen. (My dad walked into the kitchen the other day and found me making a PB&J sandwich. My mom walked in after I tried to crack an egg to make scrambled eggs in my own little kitchen. That egg ended up on the floor... oops!)

Here I am cutting some tofu for a stir fry.

Halloween!

My mom loves Halloween. There is nothing that she loves doing more than making homemade Halloween costumes, just like when I was one and two (when she actually made me two costumes, albeit one a tad political.... )

This year was no exception.

I was, well, I call myself the Orange Baron!!

Take off!!

and, here I am with my good friend Charlie the Spider in New Jersey!

Challah with Mom

One of my favorite pastimes is eating. Unlike some kids, I rarely have to be coaxed, cajoled, or coerced to eat.

A lesser known fact about me is that I also like to cook. My parents cook with me all the time and I rarely need instructions any more. This week my Mom made challah for Shabbat. (Yeah, she is a cool mom.) I just pulled up a chair, stood on it, made a mess and started rolling.

No instructions needed. I pretty much know how make a mess!

Ta - dah!

I love challah (which I call "challat" for some reason). Whenever I see it, I start singing "Shabbat Shalom" (which I also sing in my own special way..."Shabbat Shabbat Shabbat.. you get the idea.) I also love going to the special service for kids called Tot Shabbat so I have my little Tot Shabbat songs too.

Just don't call me "little" these days because I will be forced to contradict you as I am clearly "big" as I tell my parents day in and day out.

P.S. My mom will probably blog about her sugar-free challah soon, knowing her as I do ... for, um, my whole life.

Eating4Feeding

I will be updating my blog soon with the past weeks' fun activities. One of them was making pizza at home - once with Dad and once with Mom. You know, in the blogging world, you've got to link to other bloggers. It's called common courtesy. And when it's your Mommy's blog, well, it also just makes good business sense - I might get a treat out of this!

So, okay, here is my Mom's blog --
http://eating4feeding.wordpress.com/
-- where she talks about our little pizza party and more about food and nutrition and stuff. Definitely explore her posts. She's my mommy.
